2022 Design Excellence Awards

Entry Information

• Designer Entry Fee: $200.00 per entry
• It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the project being considered, meets the rules, regulations, category, and eligibility requirements as stated in this document. 
• The ASID design awards committee reserve the right to disqualify any entrant for incomplete or incorrect submissions. 
• Entry fees are non-refundable in the event an entry is disqualified, or entry is not uploaded within the given time frame.

• Judging criteria is as follows: 
  • Presentation: Overall impression and quality of photography.       (30 pts)
  • Overall Originality: Creativity of design. (20 pts)
  • Design Solution: Project explanation and designer intent are supported through project narrative, goals and other supporting documents.  Locations where the professional photos were taken are clearly noted on the floor plan. (20 pts)
  • Space Planning: Overall effectiveness of layout and degree of functionality.  Scale and proportion seem appropriate for space. (15 pts)
  • Materials, Colors, Textures & Patterns: Relationships complement one another.  Overall effectiveness of color scheme. (15 pts)
• Judging will be performed by volunteer members from other ASID Chapters and shall remain anonymous.
• All documents, before & after photographs and drawings submitted become the property of ASID Arizona South.

• ASID Arizona South, Tucson Lifestyle Home & Garden and Biz Tucson reserve the right to crop, edit, resize and use submitted entries at their discretion unless permission has been specifically restricted.
• ASID Arizona South, Tucson Lifestyle Home & Garden and Biz Tucson reserve the right of full discretion to utilize winner’s photographs in any publication, electronic format or other media unless permission has been specifically restricted.
• ASID Arizona South cannot guarantee the inclusion of any or all winners’ photography or Designer’s information in subsequent publications where editorial decision-making is beyond ASID Arizona South’s control.
• Designers, design team members, clients (if disclosed) and project information will be credited at the discretion of ASID Arizona South, Tucson Lifestyle Home & Garden and Biz Tucson.
• Entries that have previously won an award through ASID AZ South cannot be submitted.
• Entries that have previously been entered but have not won an award through ASID AZ South can be entered again (as long as they were completed within the last 3 years)
• Name of designer, logo or business on any submitted materials in any form will disqualify an entry
• A single project can only be entered once unless it’s Product Design and another category.  For instance, you CANNOT enter a Kitchen category and then also show photos of that same kitchen in a Residential Space category.  You CAN however enter a Kitchen in Large Kitchens and then enter the custom light fixture you designed for that kitchen in Product Design.
• ***New Rule: Designers can only win 1x in a category UNLESS the category has limited or no other entrants. 
• Winners will be announced at the 2022 ASID Arizona South Design Excellence Awards on: Saturday, September 10^th 2022

 

Document Requirements & Project Questions

1. 1. Professional Photography (Minimum of 1, Maximum of 10)
      1. All Photography files MUST be 300 dpi JPG files for reproduction.  Each photo/document cannot be larger than 10MB in size.
      2. The minimum number of professional images per entry is 1 and the maximum number of images per entry is 10.
      3. Add the image number in the caption section on the photo to correspond with the floorplan annotations.  
   2. Drawings
      1. 1. Required Drawings in jpg or pdf format (Minimum of 1, Maximum of 3)
            1. Overall Floorplan
               1. Format plan(s) to scale
               2. Indicate the location where professional photos were taken (i.e. Photo #1 with an annotation 1 arrow)
            2. One or two additional drawings (as built/before plan, lighting plan, elevation, detail plan, Rendering, etc…)
               1. We encourage you to only include drawings for items that are relevant to your photographs.

 

1. 3. Optional Before Photos (maximum of 3)
      1. Before images are encouraged if your project was a remodel
      2. Please only include before photos of areas that are relevant to your professional photographs.

 

1. 4. Project Questions:
      1. Estimated project square footage
      2. Project Narrative: Briefly describe the project (not to exceed 300 words)
      3. Briefly identify 3 project challenges and how you overcame them
      4. Briefly identify 3 project goals and/or something unique about the project

Additional Upload Instructions

• To upload project files, expand the 'Upload Document/Files' tab then choose a folder.
• All changes made to this entry such as answering form questions or altering photos are recorded immediately.
• To be eligible for scoring, all assigned entry forms must be complete and all document folders must meet the minimum upload requirements. A checkbox will appear next to each folder or form name if successful.
• If your project has other individuals who should receive credit in this website for contributing and need access to this page, attach them to the project under 'Getting Started' -> 'Co-Contributors'.
• If you need help at any time with this process, send contest administration an email by clicking the blue 'Ask For Help' button.
• Entry can be edited as many times as necessary within the allotted submission period
